End of Summer Update!

Well here it is fall already! We were quite busy and the summer just sort of flew by! Addison is growing bigger by the minute it seems...at her last doctor's appointment (August 18th) she weighed in at 11 lbs 9 oz! She has a new friend, Madelyn, who is 3 1/2 weeks older than her. There's a picture of the two of them to
the right. Mark & I met her parents, Josh & Hilary, during our childbirth prep class & we hit it off. We've gotten together for dinner quite a few times and even took Addie on her first camping trip with them in mid-September at Lake Collins outside of Marysville. We set up a 'play area' for the girls, slept in our tents and had a great time 'roughin it'! We had Addison's pack n play for her to sleep in, but she always ended up sleeping with Mark & I because it got so cold at night she'd turn into a little ice cube! Other than being chilly it was a great trip & we look forward to many more!

We also went to the State Fair with our home group from church. I tried a deep fried twinkie for the first time which was...interesting! Can't say I'd get one again, but you haven't lived until you've atleast tried one of those! :) On the menu for next year: deep-fried Snickers! I wasn't brave enough to try that this time! I was too afraid I'd immediately drop dead of a heart-attack! Mark was jazzed because a famous motorcycle stunt-rider was there so he was able to watch his show, which was pretty amazing. It's crazy what some guys can do on a motorcycle - they make it look so easy! The rest of the day we just walked around and checked out all of the boothes. Our favorites are always the displays for each of the counties in California. This year Mark went fishing at the California Delta display & caught the cutest little fish I ever did see! Anyway, it was a fun day, albeit long & hot! Addison was definately pooped by the end of the day, along with her friend Parker! And to tell you the truth so were mom and dad!

Addison also took her first trip to the Long Barn cabin with Mark's family over Labor-Day weekend, and we had fun playing games and even went to Pinecrest, which was extremely crowded, but fun nonetheless! It had been so long since I'd been to the Long Barn cabin, & we can't wait to go more this winter when there's snow! Mark's nieces Kayla & Camylle had a great time too, and enjoyed snuggling with their cousin!

We also went to my Aunt Cyndi's cabin in Tahoe the beginning of September, as Mark had a motorcycle ride planned with some of his friends from work. They rode up on their 'bikes,' while Addison & I drove with Julie, a supervisor who used to work with Mark but just recently got promoted to Post Master of Twain Harte! We followed the bikes up with everybody's stuff for the weekend. It was a beautiful drive...they took the scenic route so it took a little longer, but the scenery was gorgeous! We stayed at the cabin for two nights, and everyone had a blast playing drinking games and getting rowdy --when Postal Workers go wild you never know what might happen! ;) Addison didn't seem to mind & slept through all the rowdiness! Everybody said they had a great time, and I believe another trip is already being planned!

Although Addison had a lot of first trips this summer, she had a lot of other firsts as well of course! As you all know from the last entry, Addison began sucking her thumb. Well she now has a back up as she has since discovered her toes, & being the limber little baby she is, decided that those work just fine as well!

She also began to eat rice cereal about a month ago and caught onto the 'real' food thing pretty quick! Yes she does make quite the mess, but she soon learned that when the spoons a comin to open her mouth! She loves her dinner time, though she spends most of it trying to get her bib off!
So it was quite an eventful first summer for Addie, & we are now looking forward to the Holidays, which are fast approaching!
